This website is operated by North East Stomal Therapy.

By using this website or booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Who We Are

North East Stomal Therapy is provided by a Registered Nurse (RN) who is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Care is provided in line with:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standard;
  • Australian laws and professional guidelines
     

3. What This Website Is (and Isn’t)

The information on this website is:

  • General and educational
  • Designed to support understanding of stoma care
     

It does not replace:

  • A full medical assessment
  • Advice from your GP, surgeon, or specialist
  • Emergency or urgent medical care
     

Everyone’s situation is different, and care recommendations may vary.


4. Our Services

We provide private stomal therapy services only, including:

  • Stoma and peristomal skin assessment
  • Education and support with stoma appliances
  • Advice for ongoing stoma management
  • Post-operative and longer-term support
     

Services are provided within the scope of nursing practice.
We do not provide medical diagnoses, surgical care, or prescribe medication unless legally authorised.


5. GP Referrals (Encouraged)

You do not need a GP referral to access our services.

However, we strongly encourage you to:

  • Keep your GP or specialist informed of your care
  • Provide referral letters, discharge summaries, or relevant medical information where available
     

With your consent, we may communicate with your GP or healthcare team to support safe, coordinated care.


6. Telehealth Appointments (If Offered)

Some services may be provided by phone or video.

Please understand that:

  • Telehealth has limitations compared to in-person assessment
  • Advice is based on the information you provide and what can be reasonably assessed remotely
  • In-person review or medical referral may still be recommended
     

7. Appointments, Fees & Cancellations

  • Fees will be explained before you book
  • Payment terms will be provided at the time of booking
  • Cancellation or rescheduling policies apply and will be clearly communicated
     

Late cancellations or non-attendance may incur a fee.


8. No Emergency Care

Our service is not suitable for emergencies.

If you experience:

  • Severe pain
  • Sudden changes to your stoma
  • Signs of infection (fever, redness, discharge)
  • Bleeding or acute distress
     

Please contact 000, attend an emergency department, or seek urgent medical care.


9. Your Privacy & Personal Information

We take your privacy seriously.


What we collect

We may collect personal and health information needed to:

  • Provide safe and appropriate stomal therapy care
  • Communicate with you
  • Meet legal and professional obligations
     

How we use your information

Your information is used only for:

  • Providing care and services
  • Administrative and billing purposes
